Museum of popular art - Manari
In the specially prepared places of an exceptional
architectural building of historical value (former Female Vocational School of Tegea)
which is located at Episkopi Tegeas, among the ruins
of the famous ancient temple of Alea Athina and the excellently preserved Byzantine temple
of Assumption the newer heritage of Tegea revives, its Folklore Museum. In the rooms of
the Museum a living reality and a treasure of memories is unfold. Tools , articles of
daily use, clothes, costumes,assigned per profession and daily life function as well as
Tegea Association Female Vocational School creations. The Folklore Museum revives the memory of the past in the eyes of
elderly. It privedes them with an nostalgic trip to their difficult but peaceful and
simple childhood and youthful life. For the youngers it marks out their
ancestor’s life.
The Museum becomes a bridge that joins yesterday’s Tegea with today’ s Tegea
and is an important undertaking for the civilization and the development of Tegea. It was
for years a vision of many friends of our folklore tradition amd one of the goals of Tegea
Association.
